
Avon’s Will Boone hit a pair of home runs to help the Falcons beat Enfield Wednesday and win for the first time this season.
AVON, April 11 – Will Boone hit a pair of home runs and drove in five runs to lead the Avon High baseball team to their first victory of the season with a 7-2 decision over Enfield in Central Connecticut Conference play.
Tied at 2-2, Boone hit his first home run of the game, a two-run shot, over the left field fence in the third inning to give the Falcons a 4-2 lead. In the fifth, Boone’s three-run home run over the right field fence increased the lead to 7-2. Boone was 2-for-3 at the plate and pitched an inning of scoreless relief.
Jake Coppen pitched three innings, allowed four hits and one run to pick up the win on the mound. Coppen had a double at the plate. Chris Angus also doubled for the Falcons (1-1).
Matt Blaisdell was 2-for-3 for Enfield (0-1) while Matt Falk was 2-for-4 with a double.
The Falcons return to action on Friday when they host Conard High at Buckingham Field in Avon beginning at 4 p.m.
