FARMINGTON, May 21 – Davie Colagiovanni was 3-of-3 with one RBI while Zac Conrad was 2-for-3 with a one RBI and pitched a complete game victory on the mound as the Farmington High baseball kept their slim CIAC Class LL tournament hopes alive with a 6-2 CCC West win over Avon on Friday at Tunxis Meade Park.
With a win over Rocky Hill on Tuesday night at 7 p.m. at Tunxis Meade Park, the Indians (7-12) can earn an invitation for the qualifying round in the CIAC Class LL tournament on Saturday, May 26.
Conrad went the distance for Farmington, allowing just two hits, one strikeout and one walk.
After Avon’s Chris Angus hit a triple in the fourth inning, Miles Borenstein drove him in with a RBI single to cut Farmington’s four-run lead by a run to 4-1. Jake Coppen, Will Boone and Connor Harris each had hits for the Falcons.
On Friday, Simsbury rapped out 17 hits and nine extra base hits in a 16-6 CCC West over Avon. Jack Donofrio was 3-for-4 with a double, home run and two RBI. Jordan Valentino was 3-for-4 with five RBI while Luke Benneche and John McNally each had two hits.
Simsbury had seven doubles in the game with two from Jack Montgomery. Donofrio and Peter Phillips each had a home run for the Trojans.
Avon (4-15), which has lost three straight, closes out the regular season on Wedensday with a 3:45 p.m. game against Bristol Central.
