CANTON, May 14 – James Mattson was 3-for-3 with double, home run and two RBI to lead the Canton High baseball team to a 7-2 win over Somers Monday in North Central Connecticut Conference action. It was Canton’s sixth win in the last seven games.
Jack Mansur, Michael Sullivan, Connor Clement and Gavin Wood each had singles to help the Warriors. Jack Rose had a double and two RBI for Canton. On the mound, Sullivan went the distance, allowing six hits and striking out four. He walked just one. For Somers (6-11, 3-11 NCCC), Aaron Young and Tommy Rush each had a single and a double.
Canton (9-5, 8-3 NCCC) returns to action on Wednesday when they travel to East Granby.

Glastonbury 9, Avon 1
GLASTONBURY, May 14 – Gianni Zarrilli was 4-for-4 with three RBI and a double to lead the Glastonbury High baseball team to a 9-1 CCC West over Avon on Monday. The Tomahawks (11-5) had 13 hits to hand Avon their fifth straight loss.
Zach Tabellione was 3-for-4 with two RBI for Glastonbury while Christopher Fisher had two hits. Pitcher Michael Feeney struck out seven and allowed five hits in 6 1/3 innings of work to lead the Tomahawks.
Avon (3-12) had five hits led by Ryan Ollestad with a single, double and one RBI. Miles Borenstein, Jake Coppen and Gage Doorman each had singles for the Falcons.
Avon travels to Muzzy Field in Bristol Wednesday for a 3:45 p.m. contest against Bristol Central.

SIMSBURY, May 14 – Peter Phillips was 2-for-3 with a double and four RBI while teammate Blake Chapman was 2-for-3 with a triple and three RBI to lead the Simsbury High baseball team to a 14-4 CCC West over Farmington in six innings at Memorial Field on Monday.
It was the third straight win for Simsbury (12-5), who had 10 hits. Pitcher Brandon White went the distance on the mound for the Trojans, going six innings, allowing just three this and striking out two. White won despite giving up six walks.
