As they have been all season long, Darien (16-2) remains the No. 1 team in the Connecticut high school girls lacrosse poll. The Blue Wave whipped Fairfield Ludlowe, 20-3 to close out the regular season with a 13-2 record. Darien beat Staples, 18-6 in the FCIAC quarterfinals and topped Greenwich on Monday, 14-7, in the FCIAC semifinals.
Darien, who is ranked No. 4 in the nation by USA Lacrosse Magazine, will face No. 3 Wilton on Thursday in the FCIAC championship game. The Blue Wave have won 103 consecutive games against Connecticut teams. Wilton (14-4) outlasted No. 2 New Canaan in the FCIAC semifinals, 10-8.
The only change in this week’s top 10 was Hand moving up one spot to No. 5 and Cheshire slipping down one spot to No. 6. Seven of the top 10 teams are from the FCIAC.
