CANTON, June 26 – Wolcott pitcher Tyler Smith limited Canton just three hits and struck out seven to lead the Scrappers to a 5-1 Tri-State League victory over the Crushers Tuesday at Bowdoin Field.
Matt Warren had a grand slam home run, driving in four in the second inning for the Scrappers (7-4). Angel Torres added a RBI single for the winners.
For Canton (1-9), Ben Sullivan had a RBI single in the sixth inning while Sean Bahre and Trey VandeBogart each had singles.
The Crushers dropped their sixth straight game. Canton lost to Litchfield, 12-3 at Community Field last Tuesday, June 19.
Jake Bryant was 1-for-3 with two runs scored while Mike Trem scored the third run and was 1-for-2. Mike Odenwaelder had four RBI for the host Cowboys while Stanley Rijo was 3-for-5 with three runs scored. Litchfield pitcher Eddie Pequignot held Canton to two runs and four hits over five innings to pick up the win. Taylor Riley took the loss for the Crushers.
The Crushers return to action on Sunday when they travel to Lewis Mills in Burlington to face the Burlington Hunters at 1 p.m.
