Avon girls basketball begins season with dominating win

 

Avon’s Abby St. Onge had a game-high 13 points in Tuesday night’s season-opening win over Maloney.

MERIDEN, December 11 – The Avon High girls basketball team began the 2018-19 campaign with a bang with a dominating 36-15 win over Maloney on Tuesday night.

Avon gave up just two points in the first half and had a 24-2 lead at intermission.

Junior center Abby St. One led the way for the Falcons with 13 points while Ellie Powers had nine points and Emma McKearney added six.

It was the first win on opening day for the Falcons since the 2015-16 season. The Falcons play on Glastonbury on Thursday night before coming home on Tuesday, December 18 for their first home game of the season against Conard.
