Darien is No. 1 in first girls lacrosse top 10 poll of the season

Darien spent virtually all of last season in the No. 1 spot in the state girls lacrosse top 10 poll. The Blue Wave have reclaimed their top spot. In the first poll of the season, the undefeated Blue Wave grabbed 10 of 13 first place votes to claim the top spot.

Defending Class L champion New Canaan (2-0) grabbed a pair of first place votes and is ranked No. 2 while Cheshire (3-0) also was awarded a first place vote. The Rams are ranked third.

Every team in the top 10 is from Class L and seven of the top teams are from the FCIAC including Greenwich, who is off to an 0-3 start with a four-goal loss to Staples and losses to Massapequa, N.Y. and Ridgewood, N.J. Greenwich travels to No. 3 Cheshire on Thursday.
