
Avon’s Jake Coppen was 3-for-3 with a double but the Falcons lost to Platt High on Tuesday, 14-1.
AVON, April 9 – The Platt High baseball team had 12 hits including seven for extra bases as the Panthers rolled to a dominating 14-1 win over Avon in six innings on Tuesday at Buckingham Field. The game was halted due to the CIAC’s mercy rule with Platt leading by more than 10 runs after six innings.
Jack Clancy was 3-for-5 with a home run for Platt (3-1) while Jake L’Heureux-Baker was 1-for-5 with a double and three RBI. Cameron Greene and E.J. Dudley were each 2-for-3 with a pair of doubles for the Panthers. Andrew McCarthy also hit a home run for Platt.
Avon (0-3) was led by Jake Coppen, who was 3-for-3 with a double. Daniel Bae was 2-for-3 with a pair of singles while Zack Aiello had a double.
The Falcons hit the road on Wednesday to face Enfield at 3:45 p.m. as they search for their first win of the season.
