Simsbury breaks open contest to earn fourth straight win

WEST HARTFORD, April 16 – Ryan Laubscher was two-for-four with a pair of doubles and two RBI as the Simsbury High baseball team won their fourth straight game with a 8-2 win over Northwest Catholic in Central Connecticut Conference West action.

Simsbury (4-1) had nine hits in the game. Dylan Leonard was 2-for-3 while Patrick Kerr was 1-for-2 with four RBI.

Tied at 0-0 in the fourth inning, Simsbury got a two-run double from Laubscher and a two-run single from Kerr to take a commanding 4-0 lead.

Simsbury pitcher Aidan Shugrue earned his first win of the season, pitching 4.1 innings. He allowed five hits and struck out two. He walked just five.

Simsbury continues a busy week. They host Hall on Wednesday night at Memorial Field at 6 p.m. and host Maloney on Thursday at Memorial Field at 4 p.m.
