KEENE, N.H., June 20 – Two Avon High golfers participated in the 29th annual New England golf championships at Bretwood Country Club in Keene.
Cole Hahn played for the second year in a row and shot a 77 for the second time. Avon High teammate Colin Barrett also played and shot an 80.
Senior Melville Aidan of Harwood, Vt., won the New England championship with a six-under-par 66 while Hamden’s Alex Aurora was second with a 68. Aurora was second at the State Open earlier in June. Connecticut champion Alexander Gu of Darien did not play in the tournament.
Aidan kept his game sharp throughout the spring. Vermont plays their high school golf during the fall.
Hahn tied for 16th place. It was the fourth consecutive year that Avon had participants playing in the New England tournament. The best result was Tyler Hahn finishing tied for second place in 2017.
At the second annual State Open championships on June 8, Avon’s Michael Hanratty finished fifth with a seven-over-par 78 at Black Hall Club.
