TORRINGTON, August 5 – The Tri-State Baseball League is hosting the 2019 American Amateur Baseball Congress’ (AABC) Northeast World Series tournament this weekend at Fuessenich Park in Torrington and Municipal Stadium in Waterbury.
Torrington and Waterbury also hosted the tournament in 2017.
The Braintree, Mass., White Sox (23-5) are the two-time defending tournament champions. The White Sox beat the Tri-State League’s Terryville Black Sox in the championship game last August, 11-8.
The White Sox have won three Northeast World Series titles since 2014. They won the Cranberry League title for the ninth time in 10 years last week with a win over Bourne, Mass.
Terryville (21-4) and Blaisus Chevrolet-Waterbury (17-7) are the two Tri-State League teams in the tournament along with the Danbury Pirates (20-8) and Trumbull’s Fedell’s Mechanics (19-6-1) of the Bridgeport Senior City League. The Pirates were regular season champions by a half game over Fedell’s Mechanics.
