MANCHESTER, Oct. 18, 2022 – Avon’s William Lancaster finished seventh to earn a top 10 finish at the Central Connecticut Conference’s cross country championship meet Tuesday at Wickham Park.
Lancaster led the Falcons with a time of 16:39.9, beating Simsbury’s Luke Davis by less than a second to finish seventh. Avon finished eighth in the field of 30 teams with the Trojans finishing sixth thanks to a pair of top 10 runners. Davis was eighth and Daniel Coyne was tenth.
Thomas Armistead was 12th for the Falcons (4-3, 4-3 CCC West) with a time of 17:14.8.
Hall, the top ranked team in the latest MySportsResults coaches poll, won the CCC championship with a dominating 41-124 win over E.O. Smith. Led by CCC champion Issac Mahler, the Titans had three runners in the top 10 and five in the top 20 to win the league championship.
In the girls race, No. 1 Glastonbury had five runners among the top 18 runners to win the CCC championship with a 54-129 win over Southington. No. 7 E.O. Smith was third with 131 points.
Newington’s Kathleen Bohlke had a dominating race to win the CCC championship by 36 seconds. Bohlke won the race in 19:12.2 with E.O. Smith’s Gabriella Hernandez finishing second in 19:48.
Lewis Mills’ Lindsey Cascio finished eighth with a time of 20:43.8.
Avon (1-6, 1-6 CCC West) finished 14th in the field of 26 teams and was led by Laura Funderburk, who was 15th with a time of 21:00.
The Falcons return to action on Saturday, Oct. 29, when they race in the CIAC Class MM championship race at Wickham Park.
