Falcons dominate Maloney for fourth win, 7-1; AHS spikers swept

AVON, Sept. 29, 2022 – Diego Garza, Adarsh Rajamanickam and Ryan Jezek each scored their first varsity goals as the Avon High boys soccer team dominated in a 7-1 victory in Central Connecticut Conference play Thursday at Fisher Meadows.

Garza and Rayhan Shameen each had two goals for the Falcons, now 4-1-2 and undefeated in their last three matches. Matias Monteiro also scored for Avon.

Trevor Moretti had a pair of assists for Avon while Lucas Monteiro, Ian Nevins, Braden Gilbey and Rajamanickam each had an assist. Goalies Buster Akers and Eli Disendorf combined to make one save in net for the Falcons.

Maloney’s lone goal came on a successful penalty kick from Jah-son Bey.

The Falcons return to action on Monday when they visit Hall (5-0-1), currently ranked No. 2 in the latest Class LL/L state coaches top 10 poll, at 3:15 p.m. in West Hartford

GLASTONBURY, Sept. 30, 2022 – Jocee Powers had 13 digs and Olivia Evanko had 12 assists but Glastonbury was too strong for the Avon High volleyball team on Friday night in a 25-14, 25-16, 25-10 victory in CCC action. Katelyn Waniker had eight kills for the Falcons (2-6). The Guardians improve to 7-2 on the year.
