Nine players score as Avon tops Plainville for second straight win

Sophia Mango (5) had a game-high 12 points as the Avon High girls basketball team beat Plainville on Friday night.

PLAINVILLE, Dec. 16, 2022 – Sophie Mango had a game-high 12 points to lead the Avon High girls basketball team to a 51-6 win over Plainville Friday night in Central Connecticut Conference action.

The Falcons (2-0) had nine players score including Giana Godbout and Adi Standish, who had eight points each, and Claire Cawley, who added seven points.

The Falcons play for the third time this week when they travel to Cheshire for a 1 p.m. contest.

Plainville (0-2) didn’t score a field goal and converted on six free throws. The Blue Devils dropped their opening game to Hall on Wednesday, 35-34.

Granby 43, Ellington 31
VERNON, Dec. 16, 2022 – With a 43-31 victory over Ellington on Friday night and a 45-32 win over Suffield on Thursday night, the Granby Memorial girls basketball team won a pair of contests to capture the NCCC Tip-Off Tournament at Rockville High.
