Several Canton athletes earn top 10 finishes at meet in Hartford

HARTFORD, Dec. 17, 2022 – Several Canton High runners began the indoor track and field season by competing at a NCCC developmental meet at Hartford Public on Saturday.

Ava Dakin had the top finish for the Canton girls by finishing third in the 600 meters with a time of 1:56.04 with teammates Janelle Gagnon (2:03.53) and Juliana Cavanaugh (2:03.72) finishing fifth and seventh, respectively in the 600.

In the girls 4×400 relay, Canton’s team of Cavanaugh, Dakin, Gagnon and Stella Eck finished fourth with a time of 5:03.23.

Other top 10 finishes for the Warriors came from Lauren Marze, who was eighth in the shot with a throw of 25-1 feet and Fiona Griffin, who was seventh in the pole vault with a leap of 5-6.

On the boys side, Christian Whilby tied for third in the high jump with a leap of 5-6 while Warren Pelletier was ninth in the shot with a throw of 33-3 feet.
