Middletown holds off late rally from Lewis Mills

Lewis Mills’ Eli Pelletier had a career-high 18 points in Thursday night’s loss against Middletown.

Lewis Mills’ Eli Pelletier had a career-high 18 points and three 3-point field goals but the Middletown High boys basketball team was able to hold off  the visiting Spartans with a 62-58 victory in Central Connecticut Conference South action Thursday night.

Middletown (6-4, 3-0 CCC South) led by 11 points at halftime and built their lead as large as 12 points but Mills cut the lead to one in the final 30 seconds before the Dragons pulled away.

Jon Schibi had 16 points for Mills (6-2, 1-1 CCC South) with Connor Evans and Charlie Joiner contributing eight points each. Mills had their five-game winning streak snapped.

Lewis Mills returns to action on Saturday night when they travel to Litchfield to take on their former Berkshire League rival Cowboys beginning at 7 p.m.
