Canton shuts down Thunderbirds for sixth win of the year

CANTON, April 29, 2023 – Gabby Delsanto had three goals and two assists with Heather Delbone scoring three goals as the Canton High girls lacrosse team handed North Branford a 14-4 loss in non-conference play on a wet Saturday afternoon on the turf field.

The Warriors (6-2) held North Branford to a season-low four goals. The Thunderbirds (6-2) had scored at least 10 goals or more in their previous seven games.

Ellie Bahre had three goals for Canton while Mary DeRitis had two goals and four assists. Goalie Ava Dakin made three saves in net to earn the victory.

On Thursday, Canton beat Rockville for the second time this season with a 13-1 decision in Vernon. Delsanto had a game-high five goals and two assists while Delbone had three goals and an assist.

Canton returns to action on Tuesday when they host conference rival Somers at 4:30 p.m. on the turf field.
