Yale downs Hartford at Dunkin’ Park

HARTFORD, April 12, 2023 — David Hanson homered and drove in three as the Yale University baseball team defeated Hartford at Dunkin’ Park on Wednesday.

Hanson went 2 for 3 at the plate and also singled home Ben Metznerget Yale on the board in the third at the home of the Double-A affiliate Hartford Yard Goats.  The first-year Hanson has hit safely in eight straight games and is 15 for his last 33 (.455).

Metzner and Tommy Martin both scored two runs for the Bulldogs, who improved to 10-16 overall.

After falling behind 2-1 after three innings, the Bulldogs put three on the board without a hit in the fourth to take a 4-2 lead.  Team captain Carson Swank singled home Jeff Pierantoni in the fifth, and Jake Williams singled home Hanson in the sixth to give Yale a 6-2 edge.

Pitcher Josh Richardson (1-0) earned the victory after tossing 3.1 innings and allowing one earned run.
