AVON, May 6, 2023 – Tied at 3-3, the Avon High baseball team scored nine runs in the fourth inning thanks to six hits to snap a two-game losing streak with a 13-3 win over Granby in six innings at Buckingham Field.
Doubles by David Pengel, Jacob Wirth and Ben Priest in the fourth inning contributed to the big rally along with singles from Michael Prisco, Connor Lavore and Pengel.
Pengel and Priest each had three hits in the game. Pengel was 3-for-4 with four RBI and a double while Priest was 3-for-3 with three RBI and a double. Chase Beloin had two hits for the Falcons while Connor Lavore drove in a pair of runs.
On the mound, four Avon pitchers scattered five hits and struck out seven with just three walks. Reliever Ethan Lavore pitched 3.1 innings, fanning four to pick up his second win of the season.
The Falcons (8-5) return to action on Monday when they host New Britain at 3:45 p.m. at Buckingham.
