Simsbury only manages four hits in a loss to Darien

Simsbury’s Finn Sullivan had one of four hits in Monday night’s Little League state tournament game in North Haven. Simsbury lost to Darien, 7-1.

ORTH HAVEN, July 20, 2026 – Darien pitcher Chase Sutter threw four scoreless innings and struck out six as District 1 champion Darien beat Simsbury, 7-1 in a Section I Little League Major Division (ages 11-12) contest on Monday night.

Simsbury hitters had just four hits in the game and combined for 10 strikeouts. August Thomson, Finn Sullivan, Greyson Myers and Gavin Dery each had singles for Simsbury, who fell behind 7-0 after 4½ innings of action.

Simsbury (9-2) will face Cheshire in an elimination game on Tuesday at 7:30 p.m. in North Haven.

A two-run home run from Asher Corcoran in the bottom of the sixth inning lifted Cheshire to an 8-7 win over Seymour. Trailing by a run, Baxter Dvarskas led off the bottom of the sixth inning with a walk for Cheshire before Corcoran hit a home run over the center field fence for the win. Trailing 7-4, Cheshire scored two runs in the fifth and two runs in the sixth.
