Simsbury’s Section I opener suspended in third inning

NORTH HAVEN, July 18, 2026 – Saturday’s Section I tournament opener for the Simsbury Major Division Little League baseball All-Star team with Cheshire was suspended due to rain in the bottom of the third inning at the Culver Lane field.

District 4 champion Cheshire has a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the third inning. Cheshire took the lead in the second inning thanks to two walks, a wild pitch and a sacrifice fly to left field.

The game will resume at noon with the winner advancing to face District 1 champion Darien on Monday and the losing team facing District 3 champion Seymour at 7:30 p.m. on Monday in the double-elimination tournament.

There are no hits in the game so far. Simsbury is 8-1 on the season.
