WINSTED, June 3 – Pitcher Taylor Riley went the distance on the mound for the Canton Crushers Friday night at Walker Field but was a hard-luck loser as the Winsted Whalers walked away with a 1-0 Tri-State League victory. Riley gave up just five hits.
Nate Marshall threw five scoreless innings for Winsted (2-1) with Adam Piechowski pitching two innings of scoreless relief for the Whalers.
Johnny Lippincott (2-for-3) and Tyler Cremeans (1-for-2, double, RBI) led Winsted. Chad Huff was 1-for-3 for Canton, now 0-3. Canton’s game on Sunday with Tri-Town at Bowdoin Field was postponed due to rain and will be made up later in the season.
