Canton loses match but wins a game from state champion Granby for first time

Volleyball Logo CPCANTON, Sept. 29 – Senior Brianna Hoyt had 22 kills while junior teammate Cailin Tennis had 38 assists as the defending Class M champion Granby High girls volleyball team remained undefeated with a 3-1 win over Canton Tuesday.

The Bears (7-0, 6-0 NCCC) captured their 33rd consecutive match but dropped a game to Canton for the first time. Granby prevailed, 25-22, 24-26, 25-14, 25-15. The Warriors (2-4, 2-4 NCCC) received 12 assists from Emma Plourd and three serving aces and one kill from Denise Ronan.

Canton hosts SMSA (4-3, 3-3 NCCC) on Friday night at 5:30 p.m. at the high school.
