WOODBURY, Oct. 13 – The Avon High girls cross country team placed five runners in the top 10 to easily win the 54th annual Nonnewaug Invitational with a 24-36 decision over Pomperaug on Saturday. Rachael Rosow on the 3.1 mile race in 18:24.90 with teammate Sara Stokesbury and Molly Hamel finishing third and fourth, respectively. On the boys side, Connor Wise led the Falcons with a 14th place finish as the boys team finished fourth overall.
In the junior varsity races, Eric Kirk was 11th for the boys while Hannah Fusaro won the girls race in 20:49. For the Avon girls, it was their second straight Nonnewaug Invitational championship.
