No. 1 South Carolina can’t stop the Huskies

STORRS, Feb. 9 – The University of Connecticut’s women’s basketball loves a challenge. In one of the most anticipated games of the regular season, the No. 2 Huskies dominated No. 1 South Carolina, 87-62 before a vocal sellout crowd at Gampel Pavilion on a snowy afternoon.

UConn dominated from the start and began to pull away late in the first half. Breanna Stewart, Kaleena Mosqueda-Lewis (23 points), Morgan Tuck and Moriah Jefferson each scored in double digits. South Carolina was held to 39 percent field goal shooting. UConn had eight steals, six blocks and 21 rebounds at the defensive end of the floor. And Jefferson (16 points) was unstoppable weaving her way through the South Carolina defense. More from UConn Huskies.com.
