Canton wrestlers pick up second win by beating Stafford

STAFFORD, Jan. 6 – The Canton High wrestling team had three pins as the Warriors won their second match of the season with a 46-24 decision over Stafford in NCCC action Wednesday night. Julian Adams (160), Mitchell Offhaus (170) and Donovan Macklin (106) all won by pin for Canton, now 2-2 on the year and 2-2 in the league.

Trey VandeBogart (142) picked up a 10-point victory while Joe Bowman (182), Brian Connolly (113), Grace Mates (120) and Brendon Kelly (126) each picked up forfeit victories.

It’s been a good week for Adams. He finished third at 160 pounds at Saturday’s Chad Antoch Memorial Tournament in Westerly, R.I., by pinning Middletown’s Nate Baldwin in 5:40 in the consolation final. Adams won four straight matches by pin to take third. Canton finished 15th in the field of 16 teams.
