COVENTRY, April 28 – Junior Ian Witzgall was the overall medalist for the third in four matches this spring but Coventry High was still able to beat Canton in an NCCC boys golf match Thursday at Skungamaug River Country Club.

Coventry, the two-time defending league champion, beat the Warriors by a score of 167-220. Witzgall shot a season-low 37 to earn medalist honors. He was also the medalist in a win over Stafford and a match against East Granby on Monday.

Coventry improves to 3-2 on the year while Canton slips to 1-3, despite shooting its second-lowest score of the spring. The Warriors shot a 197 in the season-opening win over Stafford on April 20 at Tower Ridge in Simsbury.
