WINDSOR LOCKS, Oct. 21 – It’s been a challenge for the Canton High girls soccer team to score goals this season. The Warriors, who have been shutout in eight of 11 games, have been able to get shots on net but it’s been difficult to finish with goals.

But on Friday, the Warriors were able to finish and pick up a 1-0 win over Windsor Locks at Veteran’s Park in the first game of a boys and girls doubleheader. Windsor Locks beat the Canton boys, 3-1 in the nightcap.

Canton senior Jane Frawley was in the right spot on Friday. Senior captain Emily Mitchell crossed the ball into the front of the net and the ball deflected off sophomore Ashley Potter to Frawley, who was able to pop the ball into the net. It was Frawley’s second goal of the season.

Canton goalie Abigail Tracey made five saves in net to earn her second shutout of the season.

It was a satisfying victory for Canton (3-9-1) against the Raiders (3-7-3), who battled Canton to a 0-0 overtime time last Saturday on the turf field.

The Warriors return to the field on Tuesday with a game at Stafford at 4 p.m. The final home game of the season is Friday, Oct. 28, at 4:15 p.m. against Hartford Classical.
