NORTH BRANFORD, Oct. 21 – On a warm and humid October evening, Nico Summo ran for 113 yards and two touchdowns on nine carries to lead the North Branford High football team to a 42-0 win over Canton in Pequot Conference action Friday night.
Braedon Bean led the Warriors (0-5) with 90 yards on 20 carries but Canton was shutout for the fourth time in five games and lost for the 16th straight time, dating back to the 2014 Class S playoffs. Ryan Delehoy led Canton with seven tackles while Albert LeFave had five.
The Warriors will return home on Saturday, Oct. 29 and will host Cromwell/Portland at 1 p.m. at the turf field.

SIMSBURY, Oct. 21 – Sean Penney ran for a season-high 171 yards and three TDs to help the Simsbury High football team capture their second straight game with a 42-6 victory over the Bulkeley/Weaver/HMTCA (Hartford Magnet Trinity College Academy) co-op team Friday night at Holden Field.
Simsbury QB Riley Shanley completed 10-of-28 passes for 179 yards, two touchdowns and one interception. Ralph Gilliard caught six passes for 94 yards and had touchdown receptions of 25 and 30 yards. Simsbury’s George Matteo was 6-for-6 kicking extra points and had a team-leading eight tackles. Sophomore Cole Hermsen had seven stops for the Trojans.
Senior Danny Deitz, who had a successful heart transplant last fall in Boston, caught his first varsity pass for one yard in the game, thrilling the hometown crowd. Simsbury travels to Conard next Friday night for a contest in West Hartford at 7 p.m.
