
Avon’s Chris Jacobs hit his second home run of the season and his second in three games as the Falcons beat Hall on Thursday.
WEST HARTFORD, April 20 – Pitcher Will Boone scattered 10 hits and struck out six to help the Avon High baseball team win their second straight game with a 6-3 Central Connecticut Conference Central Region victory over Hall on Thursday.
Boone pitched five scoreless innings before the Warriors scored three runs in the sixth to cut the Falcon lead to two runs. But reliever Kyle Emery pitched a scoreless seventh inning to earn his first save of the season as Avon improved to 2-2.
Avon had 12 hits with two hits each from Justin Olson, Jeremy Zarwanski, Kyle Zarwanski and Ryan Ollstead. Jeremy Zarwanski had two RBI while Olson had a double. Avon teammate Chris Jacobs had a solo home run — his second homer of the season.
The Falcons (2-2, 1-1 CCC Central) took a 1-0 lead in the first inning. Olson doubled and moved to third on Brendan Dyer’s single. Olson scored on a sacrifice fly from Jeremy Zarwanski.
Avon extended the lead to 5-0 in the fourth inning. Jacobs led off the inning with a home run. Emery walked and moved to second base on Boone’s single. Emery scored on a RBI single from Kyle Zarwanski and Boone scored on Ollstead’s RBI single. Avon made it 5-0 on Adam Theriault’s RBI double.
Olson has six hits, including four doubles, in the last three games. He is 6-for-12. For Jacobs, it was his second home run of the season. He had a home run against Wethersfield earlier this week.
Hall (3-2, 0-1 CCC Central) dropped their second straight game despite getting 10 hits. Ben Kridel, Chase Jeter and Charles Lak each had two hits.
Avon’s game against Conard on Friday was rained out. It will be played on Tuesday, May 2 in West Hartford. The Falcons return to the field on Monday when they host Plainville at Buckingham Field at 3:45 p.m.
