CCC makes slight adjustments in six football divisions

Windsor High senior Tim Gardner-Russaw ran for a career-high 204 yards and 5 TDs to help Windsor beat CCC rival Middletown in the Class L semifinals last December.

AVON – With the departure of Rockville and Weaver from the Central Connecticut Conference this fall, the CCC has made some slight adjustments in their football divisions.

The CCC still has six divisions. There are 10 teams at the Division I and III levels with 11 teams in Division II.

Avon remains in Division III East but gets a new opponent – the co-op team from Bulkeley, Weaver and Hartford Magnet Trinity Catholic Academy (HMTCA) that replaces Rockville, which left for the NCCC.

The combined size for Bulkeley, Weaver and HMTCA had the team playing in Division I the past two seasons but the Hartford-based co-op team wasn’t competitive at that level. They’ve posted back-to-back 0-10 seasons.

Berlin, RHAM and Tolland remain in the Division III East Division. There was no change in Division III West with Bloomfield, Northwest Catholic, Plainville and Rocky Hill.

South Windsor returns to Division I after spending two years in Division II. There are no new teams at the Division II level.

Simsbury remains in Division I West with Southington, Hall, Conard and New Britain. Farmington remains in Division II East with E.O. Smith, Hartford Public, Middletown and Windsor.
