The Richmond Flying Squirrels scored five runs in the seventh inning to come back and beat the Yard Goats 5-2 on Sunday evening at CarMax Park in Richmond, Virginia. The Yard Goats had a 2-0 lead in the seventh before the game was delayed for an hour and ten minutes due to rain. When the game resumed, the Giants affiliate put together a two-out rally to earn a split in the six-game series. Dyan Jorge and Mike Antico each had two hits for the Yard Goats who return to Dunkin’ Park on Tuesday to host the New Hampshire Fisher Cats, the Toronto Blue Jays affiliate.

Outfielder Braylen Wimmer smashed a go-ahead three-run home run in the sixth inning and Stu Flesland III pitched into the seventh leading the Yard Goats to a 5-3 victory against the Richmond Flying Squirrels on Saturday night at CarMax Park in Richmond, Virginia. Hartford trailed 2-1 before Wimmer hit a line drive into the seats above the right field fence putting the Yard Goats in front. Flesland III worked a season-high 6.2 innings and allowed just three runs on five hits to improve to 3-0 in the Eastern League. Andy Perez, who leads the EL in hits, had two more including a solo home run.

Battling grueling temperatures in United Soccer League Championship action on Saturday night, Hartford Athletic held on in a nil-nil tie with Western Conference foe Phoenix Rising FC. With the scoreless draw, Athletic (4-4-8) notched their eighth shutout of the 2026 season, the most in USL Championship play. Phoenix is now 5-6-6. Hartford goalie Antony Siaha had six saves.

The Richmond Flying Squirrels cruised behind starter Charlie McDaniel, did most of the offensive damage in two innings, and shutout the Yard Goats 7-0 on Friday night at CarMax Park in Richmond, Virginia. The Richmond lefty, McDaniel, worked into the seventh inning and allowed just five hits while earning the victory. Jean Carlos Sio smashed a three-run homer in the second inning and Dakota Jordan and Sabin Ceballos had RBI hits in the fifth inning helping Richmond even the series at 2-2.

Trailing 1-0 in the eighth, Dyan Jorge tied the game with a sacrifice fly and GJ scored the go-ahead run on a throwing error. Roc Riggio’s RBI triple put the Yard Goats ahead 3-1. Jack Mahoney had another fantastic start for Hartford and yielded only one run in six innings of work. Carlos Torres fired three scoreless to earn the victory. The Yard Goats have won two of the first three games in Richmond and are 3-3 on their road trip.

He was inducted into the Connecticut Chapter of the National Wrestling Hall of Fame in 2025 and the New England High School Wrestling Hall of Fame in 2018.
