Elite pitching led the Hartford Yard Goats to a narrow 3-2 victory over the Somerset Patriots in front of 6,876 on Sunday Afternoon at Dunkin’ Park. Hartford took a 1-0 lead in the fifth and never looked back. They added two more across the remaining frames on a sacrifice fly from Charlie Condon and an RBI walk from Cole Carigg. The Patriots threatened in the ninth when George Lombard Jr. hit a two-run home run, but Bryce McGowan came on to shut the door and earn the save, giving the Yard Goats a 3-2 win.  The Yard Goats won two of three games against the Yankees affiliate to claim their first series in July.  Yard Goats’ pitching was dominant in the win. Starter Jack Mahoney tossed five scoreless innings while allowing just one hit and striking out three to pick up the win. Victor Juarez came in to throw three no-hit innings in relief while striking out four and Bryce McGowan earned the save.

Lincoln, who is now hitting .301, had two assists as second base. Bristol has a 2.5 game lead over Newport for the Southern Division championship.

The Yard Goats scored a run in the 10th inning to defeat the Somerset Patriots 6-5 in front of 7,274 fans at Dunkin’ Park on Saturday night.  Nic Kent scored on a bunt single by Braylen Wimmer, and a throwing error as Hartford earned its seventh walk-off win of the season and ended a four-game losing streak.  Rockies top prospect Charlie Condon homered for the second straight game and pitcher Michael Prosecky was impressive in his Double-A debut with five strikeouts in five innings. The Yard Goats scored the first run of the game in the first inning against Somerset starter Trent Sellers.  A single by Bryant Betancourt, scored Cole Carrigg from third after Carrigg walked and stole his 33rd base of the season.

Charlie Condon hit his first home run as a Yard Goat, but Hartford lost to the Somerset Patriots by a score of 8-5 in front of 7,343 fans at Dunkin’ Park on Friday night. Condon’s two-run homer came off Luis Gil, who was on a major league rehab assignment for the New York Yankees. The 2024 AL Rookie of the Year didn’t allow a hit after Condon’s homer in the first inning, and finished his night firing 3.1 innings on just two hits and two earned runs while striking out seven. Gil struck out six of the last eight batters he faced. Cole Carrigg, Dyan Jorge and Braylen Wimmer each had a multiple hit game and Wimmer scored two runs in his Yard Goats debut.
