Highlights: The Hartford Yard Goats scored four runs in the first inning en-route to a 9-1 victory against the Reading Fightin Phils at FirstEnergy Stadium in Reading, Pennsylvania.  Zach Kokoska cranked a three-run homer in the first inning, and GJ Hill added a solo home run in the second inning, as Hartford won four of six games against the Phillies affiliate to claim its second straight road series. Yard Goats pitchers Connor Staine, Carlos Torres, Welinton Herrera, Alec Barger and Carson Skipper limited the Fightins to just one run.  The bullpen retired 14 of the final 16 batters of the game.  Hartford has won 9 of its last 11 road games.

Highlights: The Reading Fightin Phils scored 12 runs on 17 hits, and defeated the Yard Goats 12-2, ending Hartford’s three-game win streak at FirstEnrgy Stadium.  Jose Torres had two hits, including a solo home run, and Benny Montgomery had a pair of hits in his return to his home state, but the Yard Goats were denied a fourth straight win.  Felix Reyes led the hit parade for Reading with three hits, with a double, homer and scored three runs.   Reading starter Chuck King worked six innings and allowed two runs and recorded his third win of the season.  Hartford infielder Kyle Karros, who has a current on-base-streak of 30 consecutive games, and a 9-game hitting streak did not play.

Highlights: In his first game back from returning from the injured list, Hartford’s Jose Cordova blasted two home runs leading the Yard Goats to a 8-5 victory against the Reading Fightin Phils at FirstEnergy Stadium. Cordova hit a two-run shot in the fourth inning, and later connected on a solo shot in the ninth, helping Hartford to its third straight win.  Yard Goats infielder Kyle Karros had a hit to extend his on base streak to 30 consecutive games and he has hit safely in 9 straight games.  Blake Adams pitched five solid innings and allowed just one run with four strikeouts to earn his third win.  Collin Baumgartner recorded the final four outs to earn his fourth save.  Reading outfielder Hendry Mendez hit for the cycle with a single, double, triple and home run while collecting three RBI, and scored three runs.

Kyle Edwards scored 2 goals and Dieng Mamadou added a goal as Hartford snapped a six-game winless streak in USL Championship play with a 3-0 win over Louden United Friday night at Trinity Health Stadium. Hartford (2-7-3) had gone 0-3-3 in their last three USL Championship game contests. Louden (8-4-1) came into the game in third place in the Eastern Conference with Hartford in last place (12th).

Highlights: The Yard Goats rallied to come from behind and beat the Reading Fightin Phils 6-4 at FirstEnergy Stadium.  GJ Hill ripped a two-run single in the eighth inning to give the Yard Goats their first lead, and Sean Sullivan worked a season-high seven innings to earn his fifth win. The Yard Goats trailed 2-0, 3-2, and 4-3 before scoring three times in the eighth to win their second straight game.  Reading was held to just two hits after the third inning, a pair of solo home runs by former Red Sox farmhand Alex Binelas.  Third baseman Kyle Karros had a hit in his first at-bat to extend his on base streak to 29 consecutive games.  Relievers Alec Barger and Brayan Castillo retired the final six batters to end the game.

Highlights: McCade Brown and four relievers combined for a five-hit shutout as the Yard Goats blanked the Reading Fightin Phils 3-0 at FirstEnergy Stadium.  Brown worked 5.2 innings, and allowed just three hits and recorded seven strikeouts to earn his first Double-A win.  Relievers Welinton Herrera, Sam Weatherly, Collin Baumgartner and Brayan Castillo closed out the game retiring 10 of the final 12 batters as the Yard Goats snapped a four-game losing streak.  Hartford scored three runs in the third inning as Juan Guerrero cracked a two-run double, and Bryant Betancourt added an RBI single.   Third baseman Kyle Karros had a hit to extended his on base streak to 28 consecutive games.

Highlights: Outfielder Cole Carrigg hit a three-run home run in the ninth inning, but the Yard Goats lost to the Reading Fightin Phils by the score of 7-4 at FirstEnergy Stadium in Reading, Pennsylvania.  Caleb Ricketts smashed two homers, and Leandro Pineda homered for the Fightins who sent the Yard Goats to their fourth straight loss.  Yard Goats 3B Kyle Karros extended his on base streak to 27 consecutive games with a first inning single.  He had two hits in the game.

Gerry deSimas, Jr., is the editor and founder of The Collinsville Press. He is an award-winning writer and has been covering sports in Connecticut and New England for more than 40 years. He was inducted into the Connecticut Chapter of the National Wrestling Hall of Fame in 2025 and the New England High School Wrestling Hall of Fame in 2018.
