Avon’s Jimmy Murphy (36) leaps over a Lewis Mills defender at Muzzy Field in Bristol last September. Murphy will be playing in Saturday’s Super 100 senior All-Star football game at Rentschler Field.

Five players from the Farmington Valley including Avon’s two-time All-State linebacker Jimmy Murphy will play in the Connecticut High School Coaches Association’s (CHSCA) Super 100 senior All-Star football game Saturday afternoon at Rentschler Field in East Hartford. Kickoff is at 4:30 p.m.

Murphy will be playing in the Super 100 game along with Simsbury linebacker Brad Helmkamp and Farmington wide receiver Anthony Carpenter, running back Ivan Guadalupe and wide receiver Kenny Jones.

Murphy will be on Team Nutmeg with Helmkamp, Carpenter, Guadalupe and Jones playing in Team Constitution. The game includes 100 graduated seniors with proceeds going to the CHSCA and to help fund scholarships awarded by the four state chapters of the National Football Foundation. Tickets are $10 at the door.

Murphy was among 50 players chosen in the initial draft by the Team Nutmeg and Team Constitution coaches to stock their teams. He was selected with the No. 31 selection and was the only Pequot Conference player selected. Murphy scored a game-high 25 touchdowns for the Falcons in 2013, including 19 on the ground. He ran for 1,140 yards including a season 160 yards against Cromwell. Avon went 8-3 on the season.

Farmington’s Jones was selected with the No. 26 selection while Carpenter was picked with the No. 42 draft pick. Jones caught 33 passes for 511 yards and six TDs for Farmington (9-3). He intercepted five passes on defense. Carpenter caught nine passes for 443 yards and four TDs. He picked off two passes.

Helmkamp and Guadalupe were among 50 additional players added to the rosters a few weeks later.

Last year’s game was called the Hall of Fame Classic Military Bowl with the National Guard team beating the Marines, 15-14. For 14 years prior to that, Connecticut played an All-Star game called the Governor’s Cup against Rhode Island through the 2012 season. Connecticut won 11 of 14 games in the series and the last 10 games in a row.
