Of note: Avon snapped a three-game losing streak while Simsbury dropped their fourth straight game. Simsbury erased a five-point deficit to tie the game at 29-29 with 4:18 remaining on McKenna Mendes’ three-point shot. Avon’s Colleen Mahoney hit a pair of free throws with 2:58 left and Lia Bosanac hit a three-point shot from the corner with 2:13 remaining to give Avon a 34-29 lead. Simsbury’s Blake Petersen put in an offensive rebound with 1:58 to go and teammate Kate Gills scored inside with 59 seconds left to cut the lead to one, 34-33. Srb made a block and a deflection in the final seven seconds to help preserve the win for Avon.
