FAIRFIELD, Jan. 27 – Canton’s Hayden DiMaio (132 pounds) won by pin and teammates Julian Adams (160) and Joseph Bowman (170) earned wins by decision but it wasn’t enough as Notre Dame-Fairfield beat Canton, 45-30, Wednesday in the first-ever dual meet between the two teams.
Notre Dame, now 7-13, took advantage of five forfeits, including two in the final two bouts of the evening to turn a three-point lead, 33-30, into a 15-point victory.
DiMaio pinned Walter Alvarez in 1:21 while Adams beat Anthony Emmenuel, 5-0. Bowman trailed by two after two periods but scored six points in the third period to earn a 8-6 victory. Grace Mates (120), Trey VandeBogart (138) and Braydon Fluckiger (195) each picked up forfeit victories for Canton, now 5-6.
