Canton’s CT Mirage hosts Junior Division semifinal on Saturday at Mills Pond

CANTON, July 26  – The Connecticut Mirage out of Canton host the Connecticut Tides out of Berlin Saturday in the Junior Division semifinals of the Farmington Bank/Vantis Life baseball league.

The Mirage, who finished first in the regular season in the Junior Division with a 12-3 record, host the Tides (10-7) at 1 p.m. at Mills Pond Park in Canton.

CT Mirage won their first Farmington Bank/Vantis Life playoff game on Wednesday with a 16-3 quarterfinal victory over the Tri-Country Red from Hebron at Bowdoin Field.

The Mirage (17-17, 13-3 FB/Vantis) had 13 hits led by Gabe Doormann and Collin Crowe, who were each 2-for-3 with three RBI. Crowe pitched 4 1/3 innings to pick up the victory on the mound, giving up one hit and fanning four.

Rory Walker, Jackson Chard and Ryan Scafuri each had two hits for the Mirage. Scafuri had a single and a double.

In the other semifinal contest, the Newington Indians are facing the Farmington Legends. The Junior Division title game is Wednesday, August 2 at 7 p.m. at Memorial Field in Simsbury.

Canton previously won Senior Division titles in the league in 2003 and 2010.
