SOMERS, April 12 – With four straight hits to open the fourth inning, the Canton High baseball team turned a one-run ballgame into a five-run ballgame as the Warriors improved to 3-1 with a 11-1 NCCC decision over Somers on Wednesday.
Canton (3-1, 3-1 NCCC) outscored the Spartans 10-1 in the final four innings. The Warriors had 14 hits led by catcher Sam Beadle, who was 3-for-4 with a double, home run and two RBI. Jack Mansur was 3-for-4 with one RBI and a triple. Michael Sullivan was 2-for-4 with an RBI.
Canton led 1-0 after three innings but exploded in the fourth inning off Somers starter Brady Coleman. Beadle led off the inning with a double and scored on a RBI triple from Ethan Burke for a 2-0 lead. Burke scored on a RBI single from Mansur, who scored on a RBI single from Tim Keating for a 4-0 advantage.
Brandon Peters struck out five in four innings of work to earn the win for Canton.
The Warriors return to action on Monday when they visit Suffield for a 4 p.m. start.
