The Yard Goats fell to the Portland Sea Dogs 3-1 on Sunday afternoon in the finale of a six-game series at Delta Dental Park at Hadlock Field. Portland got solo home runs from Ronald Rosario and Brooks Brannon to earn a split in the series.  Aiden Longwell had an RBI single to drive in Roc Riggio for Hartford’s only run. Hartford (30-25) had runners at the corners in the ninth inning when the game ended. The Yard Goats remain in first place in the Northeast Division with 13 games remaining in the first half, a half game ahead of New Hampshire (29-25).  The Yard Goats begin an important seven-game, six-day series against the second-place Fisher Cats on Tuesday night at Dunkin’ Park

The Yard Goats came from behind and defeated the Portland Sea Dogs 10-8 on Saturday night at Delta Dental Park at Hadlock Field in Portland, Maine. The Yard Goats trailed 3-1 in the fourth inning before scoring nine consecutive runs over the next three innings to take a 10-3 lead. GJ Hill had two hits, including a homer and three RBI, helping Hartford to its third straight win.  Hill has hit four home runs and has 10 RBI this week against the Sea Dogs. Andy Perez and Conner Capel each had three hits. The Yard Goats (30-24) won their third straight game and led the Northeast Division by a half game over New Hampshire (29-24) with 14 games remaining in the first half. Portland is 28-27.

Hartford 4, New York Cosmos 1
At Patterson, N.J.
Hartford scored twice in a five-minute span to beat the Cosmos, 4-1 in a United Soccer League Cup contest on Saturday night. Barry Coffey had two goals as Hartford improved to 2-0-1 in Group5 in the Prinx Tires Cup. Hartford found their opportunities early, resulting in a slew of chances in the 11th minute that were capped with an easy tap-in for Augi Williams, giving Athletic a 1-0 advantage. In the 40th minute, Williams set up a perfect ball for Barry Coffey in the box with Coffey smashing home the rock to put Hartford ahead, 2-0. Just five minutes later, another perfectly placed setup was laid for Emmanuel Samadia who fired a shot off of the crossbar and into the goal mount, extending Athletic’s lead to 3-0. Jordan Chavez found twine for New York Cosmos in the 87th minute before Andres Hernandez answered right back for Hartford just a minute later with a wide-open try that regained Athletic with a thre-goal lead at 4-1.

The Yard Goats scored six runs in the ninth inning to defeat the Portland Sea Dogs 8-7 on Friday night at Delta Dental Park at Hadlock Field. GJ Hill cranked a three-run homer, his second of the game, and Bryant Betancourt smashed a three-run double leading the Yard Goats to their second straight win to stay in first place in the Northeast Division with 15 games remaining in the first half.  Andrew Baker struck out the side in the ninth inning to earn the save. Trailing 7-2, the Yard Goats rallied with a six-run ninth inning.  Jimmy Obertop began the frame with a walk and Jose Torres singled.  GJ Hill followed with a three-run homer into the pavilion seats in right field to make it 7-5.  Hartford then loaded the bases on three walks against the Sea Dogs bullpen.  Bryant Betancourt belted a bases-clearing double off the monster, scoring Andy Perez, Roc Riggio and Conner Capel, giving the Yard Goats an 8-7 lead. Andrew Baker struck out the side in the ninth to earn the save.

Konner Eaton worked six solid innings, was helped by a two-run homer by Aiden Longwell and two-run single by Bryant Betancourt, as the Yard Goats defeated the Portland Sea Dogs 4-1 on Thursday afternoon at Delta Dental Park at Hadlock Field in Portland, Maine. Austin Smith and Andrew Baker worked the final three scoreless innings.  The victory improved the Yard Goats to 28-24 and back in first place in the Northeast Division with 16 games left in the first half.

The Yard Goats hit three home runs but it wasn’t enough in a 10-7 loss to the Portland Sea Dogs on Wednesday night at Delta Dental Park at Hadlock Field. GJ Hill and Aiden Longwell each hit three-run homers, and Conner Capel added a solo shot in the second game of a six-game series. The Yard Goats had a 6-2 lead in the fifth inning but the Sea Dogs scored five runs in the frame to take the lead. The Portland victory moved the Sea Dogs into first place one half game ahead of the Yard Goats in the Northeast Division.

The host Dream limited Connecticut to just 26 points in the second half as Atlanta rolled to a 91-75 victory over the Sun in WNBA action on Tuesday night. Atlanta’s Rhyne Howard, the fifth-year forward from Kentucky, scored a season-high 36 points, converting on 12-of-24 shots from the floor and draining eight 3-point shots. Veteran guard Allisha Gray scored 26 for the Dream (6-2). The Sun were led by Aneesha Morrow with 20 points and 13 points with Saniya Rivers and Lila Lacan each scoring 11 points.

The Portland Sea Dogs used two big swings early to beat the Yard Goats 9-0 on Tuesday night at Delta Dental Park at Hadlock Field in Portland, Maine. In the third inning, Nate Baez had a two-out two-run double, and Brooks Brannon cranked a two-out two-run homer leading Portland to a victory in the first game of a six-game series against the Boston Red Sox affiliate. It was a 4-0 game going to the seventh inning before Portland scored five runs over the next two innings. The Yard Goats return to Dunkin’ Park on Tuesday, June 9 to host the New Hampshire Fisher Cats.
